In order to further deepen the education cooperation between China and Botswana, as well as to strengthen the mutual understanding and friendship between our two peoples, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Botswana invites qualified citizens of Botswana to apply for the 2021/2022 Chinese Government Scholarship.


For the academic year of 2021/2022, the Chinese Government Scholarship will provide scholarships for Botswana students who wish to study in China for master degree, doctoral degree, general scholar or senior scholar. Please note that the international travel costs shall be borne by the scholarship recipients. -Applicants must be Botswana citizens in good health.

-Applicants for master degree programs must have undergraduate's degree and be under the age of 35.

-Applicants for doctoral degree programs must have master's degree and be under the age of 40.

-Applicants for general scholar programs must have completed at least high school and be under the age of 45.

-Applicants for senior scholar programs must have master's degree or hold an academic title of associate professor (or above), and be under the age of 50.

-Applicants applying for majors taught in Chinese must have language qualification certificate. (HSK 3 for general scholar and senior scholar programs; HSK 4 for master and doctoral degrees)


Application Documents:

Applicants must finish the online application by visiting www.campuschina.org, and submit the electronic application documents to cngovscholarship@gmail.com no later than 17th February 2021. No hard-copy documents will be accepted due to COVID-19 prevention protocol.

(1) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship. Applicants should first fill in the application form on the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System. (Please refer to the attached Instructions of the Information System)

(2) Copy of Passport Home Page. Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of his/her ordinary passport with validity later than March 1, 2022. If the validity of the current passport does not meet the requirement, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application.

(3) Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(4) Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(5) A study plan or research proposal. In Chinese or English. A minimum of 800 words for postgraduates, and 500 words for non-degree scholars.

(6) Recommendation letters. Applicants for postgraduate programs or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors.

(7) Applicants for music programs are requested to submit electronic copy of their own works. Applicants for fine arts programs must submit electronic copy of their own works including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

(8) Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.

(9) Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant). The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from the end of the notice. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

(10) Non-Criminal Report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
