On the occasion of marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana, H. E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President of P. R. China, and H. E. Mr. Festus Mogae, President of Botswana, exchanged congratulatory messages at the beginning of the year 2005. President Hu said China cherishes the long-standing friendship with Botswana. China wishes to, with the joint efforts of Botswana, promote the bilateral cooperative relations to a new high. President Mogae said the bilateral relations between the two countries are established on the basis of genuinely solid friendship. The two countries respect the sovereignty of each other, both committed to the welfare of the people in two countries and around the world. Botswana highly applauds the great achievements registered by the Chinese people led by the Chinese leaders in economic construction. President Mogae reiterated Botswana upholds the "One China"policy and hopes an early reunification of Taiwan with the mainland China.
