On 10 September, H.E. Mr. Festus Mogae, President of the Republic of Botswana delivered a congratulatory message to H.E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China, on occasion of the 56th anniversary of China's National Day. President Mogae said the two countries have enjoyed cordial relations underpinned by shared commitment to overcome the challenges of development. He reaffirmed Botswana's resolve to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance co-operation between the two countries and people. On 20 September, H.E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President of China congratulated H.E. Mr. Festus Mogae, President of Botswana for the 39th anniversary of the independence of Botswana. President Hu expressed appreciation and joy on behalf of the Chinese Government and people for the significant achievements registered by Botswana in the fields of economic and social development. Internationally, Botswana has been implementing an independent foreign policy of peace and playing an important role in African affairs. He said China is willing to make unremitting joint efforts with the Botswana side to further consolidate and develop the friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries.
