| Chairman and President of Export-Import Bank of China Visited Botswana |

At the invitation of Ministry of Finance and Development Planning of Botswana, Mr. Li Ruogu, the Chairman and President of Export-Import Bank of China, has led a delegation visiting Botswana during 20 to 22 April, 2006. Mr. Li and Hon. Mr. Duncan Mlazie, Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, attended the signing ceremony of a RMB Yuan loan agreement for the road construction. The bank and the Ministry also signed a loan agreement for the construction of low cost apartments. Hon. Mr. Frank Ramsden, Assistant Minister of Works and Transport, has asked the Export-Import Bank of China to consider helping Botswana to construct the trans-Kgalagadi railway that would link Botswana with Namibia. Mr. Li urged Botswana to provide China with a package of projects for assistance. |
