On 29th November 2016, H.E. Mr. ZHAO Yanbo, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Botswana, presents the Letter of Credence to H.E. Lt. Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana.
Ambassador ZHAO conveys the cordial greetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Khama, and warmly congratulates Botswana on its notable achievements in the past 50 years. He says that China and Botswana have deep traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the bilateral cooperation in various areas such as economy, culture, education, health and wildlife conservation has been developing in a smooth way, and has produced fruitful outcomes. China will work with Botswana to implement the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He says that during his tenure of office he will exert his best efforts to facilitate China-Botswana exchanges and cooperation .
In his response, President Khama warmly welcomed Ambassador ZHAO to assume his new post and asked Ambassador ZHAO to convey his cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping. President Khama says China is a sincere friend and big partner of Botswana, the friendship between the two countries has a long history and a solid foundation. Botswana government will continue to provide strong support and assistance to Ambassador ZHAO in his work, and will work closely with the Chinese side to push forward this relationship to a new height.
