Reception held to mark the National Day of China

 

 

        On the evening of 28th September 2006, Ambassador Jiang Zhengyun bid a reception to mark the 57th anniversary of the founding of the P. R. China. Honorable Ministers, extinguished guests from the government institutions, parliament, defence force, business community, civil society, Gaborone City Council, diplomatic corps and international Organizations, and the Chinese community attended the reception. Ambassador Jiang briefed the guests about the current situation, the development policy implemented in China and spoke highly of the achievements in the social and economic development that Botswana has registered in the past 40 years. He congratulated Botswana on the occasion of the 40th year since its independence. He also gave his perspective on the bilateral relations between the two countries. In retrospect, he also briefed on the China-Africa relations, and introduced the upcoming Beijing Summit and the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in November. Hon. Mr. Moeng Pheto, Minister of Labor and Home Affairs, in his reply, addressed the guests extending the Botswana Government's warmest congratulations to the Government and people of China for the Chinese National Day. He paid tribute to China for its development achievements and the benefits that the world has enjoyed from China's development. He said the Botswana Government was grateful to the Chinese Government for its long-term help and support to Botswana in fields of health, education, infrastructure among others. He promised that Botswana would actively participate in the Beijing Summit and contributed to building the new strategic partnership between China and Africa.
