Hon. Huanghai, Assistant Minister of Commerce of China Visited Botswana

In order to further strengthen friendly relations and promote economic cooperation between China and Botswana, Mr. Huanghai, Hon. Assistant Minister of Commerce of China, headed a delegation composed of 8 economic officials visited Botswana from 24th May to 26 th may.

A talk had been held on 25 th May between Hon. Mr. Huang and Hon. Mr. Duncan Mlazie, the Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning of Botswana. Mr Huang said China valued relations with Africa and would continue keeping in contact with the continent. Mr Mlazie said China had assisted Botswana in its development efforts for more than three decades, and China is one of the few countries and organisations which assist Botswana with concessional funding.

Mr. Huang and Mr Mlazie signed a Letter of Exchange on Office Equipment Donation (worth of RMB Yuan 500,000 or P394 000) to Botswana after their talk. Accompanied by the officials of Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and the Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Mr. Ding Xiaowen, Mr. Huang visited Ministry of Works and Transport and had a meeting with Hon. Frank Ramsden to discuss the cooperation on the project of upgrading Botswana railway system.

During his stay, Mr Huang accepted the interviews by Botswana National TV Station and other news media. He also visited Botswana Diamond Valuing Company and the Mokolodi Nature Reserve.
