Chinese Embassy Donated Medical Equipment

Gaborone- The Chinese Embassy in Botswana has donated medical equipment worth of P1.8 million to the Botswana government.

The equipment consists of stainless steel medical trolleys, aluminum plastic blister packaging machines, boxes of sheet for pharmaceutical packaging and ICT accessories. The Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Mr. Ding Xiaowen said the equipment will help in the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

He said Botswana and China shared a certain degrees of similarity in the field of HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Ding said most of the HIV/AISD virus in Botswana and China challenges the two countries to work together.

Mr. Ding said Botswana and China had always cooperated, saying when China was hit by an earthquake, the Botswana government assisted financially. He said the two countries share more, adding that they can still cooperate further more especially in the field of health.

The Minister of Health, Ms Lesego Motsumi said the donation will strengthen Botswana's health delivery system.

She said the equipment will be used in hospitals to facilitate the internal distribution of medical suppliers, strengthen does dispensing system to improve the security of inpatients medicines and enhance quality of patients care services.

She also said the acquisition of Information Technology equipment will be used in building institutional capacity for information management and training system.

"I wish to assure you that the government of Botswana appreciated the cordial bilateral relations between the two countries" the Minister said. BOPA
