|Chinese Ambassador Donates School Bags|
It was ululations and dancing at Mmanoko in the Kweneng District when Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Mr. Ding Xiaowen handed over 300 school bags to pre-school children as Christmas presents last week.
All the bags each contained a plastic ball, baby dolls, simba chips and sweets.
Various songs and cries of happiness were food for the girls and boys at Mmanoko kgotla after they were given gifts.
The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr. Daniel Kwelagobe, and his wife, Queen, accompanied Mr. Ding. Mmanoko falls under Mr. Kwelagobe’s Molepolole South Constituency.
The organizer of the Christmas gifts from the Chinese ambassador, Mrs. Kwelagobe, said the embassy gave her and her husband 900 bags for the entire Molepolole South Constituency.
Mrs. Kwelagobe said 100 bags would be donated to Gamodubu while Molepolole would get 500 bags.
Mrs. Kwelagobe said usually, her family donated Christmas presents to children at the end of every year, saying she had realized that during Christmas Eve, most of the children were denied freedom to enjoy themselves because their parents often left them alone and attend choir festivals at the lands.
For his part, Mr. Kwelagobe thanked Mr. Ding for providing Christmas gifts to his constituents. (Dailynews)
