Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, H. E. Dr. Zhao Yanbo attended the Kweneng North Agriculture Show on 22 July 2017. Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Hon. Vincent Seretse officially opened the show.

In his official opening address, Ambassador Zhao said, agriculture cooperation is one of the key areas of China-Botswana relationship and ever-growing cooperation, which started just after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1975. As a sincere friend to Botswana, China is willing to prioritize support for Botswana's agricultural modernization in the coming years.

He commended current China-Botswana agriculture cooperation and Botswana government's commitment to agriculture development. He emphasized the huge cooperation potentials in agriculture between the two countries to cope with climate change. For example, China would like to share desert drip irrigation experience, provide short-term technical training programs, collaborate to do research on the dry and water-starved environment, and encourage Chinese enterprises to engage and invest in agriculture in Botswana, etc.

Kweneng North Agriculture Show is an annual event starting from 1980s. Last Saturday's show attracts local government officials, Kgosis, farmers and entrepreneurs of over 200 people.
