The Preparatory Work for the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Is Launched

On June 11, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying co-chaired the meeting for the establishment of the Chinese Preparatory Committee for the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the enlarged meeting of the Chinese Follow-up Action Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) with the goal of launching and arranging the preparatory work for the 4th Ministerial Conference, studying the execution of follow-up actions of the Beijing Summit, and exploring the thinking on China-Africa cooperation in the future. The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance and other related member units.

The meeting conveyed the important instructions of the central leadership on the preparations for the Ministerial Conference and the execution of the follow-up actions of the Beijing Summit on the final stage. The member units of the Chinese Preparatory Committee and the Chinese Follow-up Committee said they would proceed from a strategic and holistic perspective to gain a good understanding of the important significance of ensuring the success of the Ministerial Conference and that they would, in accordance with the requirements of the CPC Central Committee, make the best efforts to advance the preparatory work, work closely with the African counterparts for the successful organization of the Ministerial Conference and make contribution to the further development of the new type of strategic partnership between China and Africa.
