Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Attends the 10th MEDays Forum

From November 8 to 10, 2017, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended the 10th MEDays Forum held in Tangier at the invitation of the Amadeus Institute of Morocco and delivered a speech in a discussion which is themed "BRICS-Africa: From Growth to Co-emergence".

Special Representative Xu Jinghu expressed that cooperation between the BRICS countries and African countries is an important part of South-South cooperation. The BRICS countries support the African countries in implementing the Agenda 2063 of the African Union and actively promote Africa to realize the lasting peace and sustainable social and economic development. Special Representative Xu Jinghu also answered questions from the guests and audience present at the forum on China-Africa relations, China-Morocco relations and other questions. All participants spoke highly of China's contributions to developing the BRICS mechanism and promoting cooperation between the BRICS countries and Africa.

The theme of the MEDays Forum is "From defiance to challenges: the era of major upheavals". Over 150 guests from all over the world attended the forum upon invitation and conducted discussions on such topics as relations between the BRICS countries and Africa, Africa-Europe relations, development and investment in Africa, sustainable development, anti-terrorism and situation in the Middle East and Africa.

On November 8, Special Representative Xu Jinghu met in Rabat with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita of Morocco. Both sides exchanged views on China-Morocco relations, China-Africa and China-Arab cooperation and other issues of common concern.
