Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Attends the Fourth Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa

From November 13 to 14, 2017, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended at invitation the fourth Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa held in Senegal. Special Representative Xu Jinghu delivered a speech at the plenary session and briefed on China's stance on the international community's participation in Africa's peace and security affairs, as well as China's consistent support for promoting the cause of peace in Africa. Xu Jinghu stressed that the Chinese side is willing to, together with the international community, continuously support Africa's efforts in realizing peace and security, and jointly make due contributions to pushing forward the construction of a new type of international relations and a community of common destiny for mankind.

During the forum, Special Representative Xu Jinghu met with President Macky Sall of Senegal. Macky Sall warmly congratulated on President Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and asked Special Representative Xu Jinghu to convey his warm greetings and friendly affection to President Xi Jinping. Macky Sall expressed that China has provided important supports for Senegal for a long time, which dramatically changes the country's national development situation. Senegal stands ready to, together with China, mainly enhance cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, agriculture, health care, peace and security, so as to push forward the development of Senegal-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings and best wishes to President Macky Sall, and expressed that the 19th CPC National Congress has opened up a new era for socialism with Chinese characteristics, and will also bring new opportunities to the development of China-Senegal relations and China-Africa relations. China will continue promoting the development of bilateral relations as always, and actively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, in a bid to better benefit the two peoples.
