Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Attends the SIIS Forum on Africa 2018

From June 4 to 5, 2018, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended at invitation the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) Forum on Africa 2018 which is themed "International Development Cooperation in Africa: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects". The forum was hosted by the SIIS, and attended by nearly a hundred officials, experts and scholars from China, African countries and regional organizations, the United Nations and other institutions.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu delivered a keynote speech at the forum, introducing the concept of policy featuring sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith that China has upheld in its diplomacy towards Africa, the values of friendship, justice and shared interests, five major development concepts for China-Africa cooperation, and the implementation situation of the outcomes from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to the participants. Xu Jinghu stressed that since the establishment of the FOCAC 18 years ago, it has vigorously promoted the in-depth development of China-Africa cooperation. The FOCAC Beijing Summit will be held this September, and the Chinese and African leaders will gather again to discuss together the undertakings of cooperation between China and Africa, jointly plan the blueprint for China-Africa cooperation in the new era, and join hands to build a closer community with a shared future for China and Africa. Special Representative Xu Jinghu also introduced China's opinions and stance on strengthening and improving international cooperation with Africa, and called on various parties of the international community to pay more attention to Africa, increase support for and input in Africa, and make positive contributions to the realization of peace, stability and development in Africa.

During the forum, Special Representative Xu Jinghu also gave an interview to such media as Phoenix Satellite TV and The Paper on China-Africa relations and other topics.
