On May 20, 2021, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media, which attracted nearly 20 Chinese and foreign media outlets. Wu Peng made an introduction to the launch of the "Initiative on Partnership for Africa's Development" with African countries by State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on "Peace and Security in Africa: Addressing Root Causes of Conflict in Post-Pandemic Recovery in Africa" on May 19, adding that this initiative, which is aimed at supporting Africa in its post-pandemic recovery, development and prosperity, fully reflects the concerns of Africa and is clearly characterized by openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. China and Africa welcome more countries and international organizations, especially Africa's traditional partners, to join the initiative and sing a chorus of support for Africa's development together.
