Office Equipment Handed Over to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Botswana

The handing-over ceremony of the office equipment donated by Chinese Embassy in Botswana to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Botswana was hold on 16th February 2006 in Gaborone. The Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Mr. Jiang Zhengyun, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Lt. Gen. M.S. Merafhe, attended the ceremony.

The office equipment donated includes computers, fax machines, scanners, copiers, projectors and software, etc.

Merafhe said at the ceremony that the donation, second time within two years, came at a critical time when the Ministry was in the process of enhancing its computerization program. He said, "China has always stood by us in the most trying of times. Botswana will always be indebted to China for the generous assistance that helped us in our development efforts." He said that the cooperation between the two counties was flourishing in numerous fields and committed that the Ministry would work closely with the Embassy to ensure the agreements, which reached during Vice Premier Huang Ju' successful visit last November, would be implemented as soon as possible.

Ambassador Jiang Zhengyun, responded that China and Botswana enjoyed good relations, which had been developing smoothly ever since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1975. The fruitful visit of Vice Premier Huang Ju demonstrated the overall development of the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
